Sabah Tourism Board and Scoot Strengthen Air Connectivity Between Singapore and Kota Kinabalu

Sabah is set to strengthen its international tourism connectivity following the signing of a three-year Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) between the Sabah Tourism Board (STB) and Singapore-based airline Scoot.

The partnership aims to improve air connectivity to Sabah while jointly promoting the state as a tourism destination to travellers from Singapore and Scoot’s wider international network.

The MoC was signed at Scoot’s office in Singapore by Sabah Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Julinus Jeffery Jimit and Scoot Director of Marketing, Public Relations and Loyalty Lau Hui Ling.

The signing was witnessed by Scoot Chief Commercial Officer Calvin Chan and Malaysia’s Deputy High Commissioner to Singapore, Ismail Mohamad Bkri, representing High Commissioner Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin. Also present were STB Deputy Chief Executive Officer Tay Shu Lan and Tourism Malaysia Singapore Office Deputy Director Muadz Samat.

Sabah Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, YB Datuk Jafry Ariffin, said the collaboration reflects Sabah’s commitment to strengthening international connectivity and developing strategic partnerships to support the continued growth of the state’s tourism industry.

Under the collaboration, STB and Scoot will work together on joint marketing and promotional campaigns aimed at raising awareness of Sabah, stimulating travel demand and encouraging more international visitors to explore the state.

Scoot currently operates 10 weekly flights between Singapore (SIN) and Kota Kinabalu (BKI), providing travellers with a direct connection to Sabah’s capital and gateway to destinations such as Mount Kinabalu, the islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park and the wider attractions of Sabah.

The new partnership is expected to further position Kota Kinabalu as an important gateway for international travellers visiting Sabah, while giving the destination greater exposure across Scoot’s regional and international network.

For Sabah’s tourism industry, stronger airline partnerships could help bring more visitors, support local businesses and make it easier for travellers to discover what Kota Kinabalu and the rest of the state have to offer.
